December 2004
Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year!!
Phil and Barbara Owens

Phil’s Mom (b. 1906, d. 2004), Belle, Gwyneth & girls
Greetings from central Texas!  Phil and I continue in good health.  We are both still teaching – Barb at Southwestern University and Phil at Austin Community College.  Just recently Phil ventured into the world of teaching math on line through ITT Tech. We are happy to have Susannah close to us in Austin.

Christmas 2003 began with a visit to Massachusetts.  Gwyneth, Rob and their girls, Camille and Chloe, drove from Georgia, and Phil and Barb flew.  We all spent a few days with Phil’s mom and sister Belle.

Barb took some time off from her teaching in February to join Gwyneth and Rob and the girls in the South of France, and help out while Gwyneth attended work-related meetings.

Gwyneth and the girls and Barb’s brother Jim came to Texas in March to celebrate Barb’s 60th birthday by the whole family including Phil and Susannah running a 10K race.

In August, we spent 10 days at Cinnamon Bay Campground on St. John in the USVI with Gwyneth, Rob and the girls, and Susannah.  Our camping cottage was right on the beach and we had a grand time watching the little girls play in the sand and water

Labor Day weekend Phil, Barb and Susannah went to Massachusetts for a beautiful sunny, graveside service for Phil’s mom, who passed away at 97 in August.

In  October, Barb joined Gwyneth and her girls in California and got to babysit while Gwyneth went to her corporate meetings.

We get to our cabin in North Georgia quite often, to relax and to be closer to Gwyneth and her family in Atlanta.   We get there most school breaks.  Phil saw a bear run through the yard this summer!

Phil is thrilled that his beloved Red Sox finally broke the Curse of the Bambino!

May the blessings that surround the birth of the Christ Child be with you and your family this holiday season.
Join us as we pray for peace on earth.
